Can I travel with my portable oxygen concentrator?
Portable Oxygen concentrators are ideal for people who enjoy travelling and rely upon oxygen therapy. Most machines operate from mains (AC power), a car charger (DC power), or its internal rechargeable batteries.
You do however need to plan your journey. Check with your travel agents and hotels to ensure that you will have adequate charging facilities when travelling and when you have arrived at your destination.
Most airlines and cruise liners will allow portable oxygen concentrators to be taken on board. Again, you are strongly advised to ask them at the time of a booking enquiry and give them plenty of notice to avoid any problems.
When travelling abroad remember that voltages and plug fittings are different. Most charges will adapt to different voltages. Read the owners manual to check if your charger is usable in the country of destination. You will most likely need a different plug fitting. Adaptors are available from most airports or electrical stores.
