What is an Oxygen
Concentrator? Oxygen Generator, Portable & Home Oxygen Concentrator
Units, UK
An Oxygen Concentrator creates
its own oxygen by taking in the air around you and filtering out the
unwanted gases such as nitrogen, thus delivering oxygen at about 90%
+/-3%, this can be either on demand, i.e. when the user breathes in
(pulse flow) or constantly delivered (constant flow).
Portable Oxygen Concentrators
are lightweight thus releasing the user from the restraints of a static
machine or stocking and carrying extra oxygen canisters, allowing you
the freedom to be spontaneous or travel.
Portable Oxygen Concentrators
run on internal and/or external rechargeable batteries, so for longer
journeys you can re-charge the batteries from your car cigarette lighter
socket. For greater length of time away from home or for where there
are no charging facilities then having spare batteries are the answer.
Some people are not able
to use a pulse flow due to certain medical conditions such as sleep
apnea, those using a CPAP machine a constant flow portable oxygen concentrator
would be needed. If oxygen is required at night time, as a pulse flow
portable oxygen concentrator relies on ones breath being detected to
activate the release of oxygen, a shallow breather may not breath deep
enough to activate the machine causing the machine to keep alarming,
so it is important that the user trials a portable oxygen concentrator
during the night to make sure it is suitable.
